The use of toughened glass in buildings is increasing with the now routine construction of large glazing screens, glass roofs and curtain walls and nickel sulphide inclusions is now an issue.
Heat Soaking is a process which involves a pane of tempered glass being subjected to temperatures up to 280OC for several hours over a specific temperature gradient to induce fracture. The test ensures that if there is probability of breakage then the infected panes break inside the furnace at the factory itself, hence reducing the chances of onsite breakage. |
